This EP tells the story of a love that felt like freedom, survived years of waiting, and ultimately became something I had to let go. From the simple magic of a paperclip ring to the tears she tried to hide, these songs explore the beauty, regret, and quiet heartbreak of loving someone when circumstances refuse to cooperate. She gave me her time, her patience, and a love that accepted me as I was. In the end, I couldn't give her the future she deserved. What remains is gratitude, memory, and the freedom to love her from a distance, even if part of me will always live in the dream they created together.
FIVE CHAPTERS
1. Just Be Me
A song about the freedom of being loved without having to perform, hide, or constantly worry. She understood him naturally, laughed at the smallest things, and made him feel completely seen. The paperclip ring becomes the perfect symbol: something cheap in material, but priceless because she treated it like a diamond.
Core idea: With her, I didn't have to become someone else to be loved.
2. You Loved Me
A reflection on a love that endured despite imperfections. She continued loving him through the years, even when he couldn't give her the same love in the way she deserved. It's less about what he did wrong and more about finally understanding the depth of what she gave.
Core idea: She loved me even when I wasn't capable of loving her completely.
3. I Saw You Cry
Probably the emotional center of the EP. He sees the sadness she tries to hide, even while she tells him how much she loves him. The paperclip ring returns as a powerful recurring image, representing both their love and the painful limitation surrounding it. She wears it despite knowing what they may never become.
Core idea: I could see the tears she wouldn't let herself say out loud.
4. Time
A song about waiting until waiting becomes impossible. She gives him nearly five years, repeatedly reminding him that she loves him but cannot wait forever. His promises keep disappearing into circumstances beyond his control, until eventually she chooses to leave.
Seeing her with someone else creates the final wound. She's smiling differently now, not necessarily happier, but content. He realizes she didn't leave because she stopped loving him. She left because she had finally run out of time.
Core idea: She gave me time. I kept asking for more.
5. Freedom
The aftermath. He knows she is going to marry someone else and wishes, painfully, that it could have been him. Yet instead of turning bitter, he wishes her happiness, even if he couldn't give it to her.
The ending brings the idea of freedom full circle. He can finally let her live her life while keeping the private dream they created together. He still dreams about her, not because he refuses reality, but because some memories don't need to be erased to let someone go.
Core idea: Sometimes letting someone go is the last way you can love them.
JUST BE ME is a five-song story about a love that felt like freedom, survived years of waiting, and ultimately became something I had to learn to let go.
I wrote these songs between 2024 and 2025, drawing from real memories, conversations, promises, regrets, and the quiet realization that sometimes loving someone deeply does not guarantee that life will allow you to stay together.
The story begins with “Just Be Me.”
With her, I didn't feel like I had to measure every word or walk carefully around someone else's expectations. I could laugh too loud, say something stupid, be imperfect, and simply exist as myself. She knew me like a book, but she still turned the page.
She laughed at simple things. She found meaning in ordinary moments. One of those moments became a memory I still carry with me: a simple paperclip ring I made for her. It wasn't gold. It wasn't expensive. But she wore it like it meant something.
And maybe that's what made her different.
She could take something ordinary and make it feel extraordinary.
That feeling leads into “You Loved Me.”
Looking back, I began to understand that she never asked me to be perfect. She knew my flaws, my stubbornness, my restless nights, and the parts of myself I tried to hide. She saw the versions of me I struggled to accept, and she loved me anyway.
The difficult realization was that I did love her, but loving someone and knowing how to love them properly are not always the same thing.
I gave her pieces of myself while keeping other pieces behind a door. I thought there would always be more time. I didn't realize that while I was learning how to give love, she was already giving me hers.
“You loved me when I didn't know how to love you right.”
That became the heart of the song.
Then comes “I Saw You Cry.”
There was a moment I couldn't forget.
She told me, “You make me so happy.”
But I saw tears in her eyes.
I asked what was wrong.
She told me:
“I love you so much. Always remember that.”
I held her closer, but I didn't understand what those tears meant.
Maybe she was afraid of what our future would become. Maybe she already understood how uncertain our circumstances were. Maybe she simply loved me so deeply that the uncertainty itself hurt.
I can't honestly say I know.
What I know is what I remember.
Her eyes.
Her words.
Her tears.
And that little paperclip ring on her finger.
I could have bought her something more expensive. That was never the problem. The ring represented something more complicated. It was a small symbol of love in a situation where I couldn't give her the future she deserved.
Maybe she wore it because it reminded her of me.
Maybe it represented the future we wanted.
Maybe it was simply something she could hold when she couldn't hold onto the future anymore.
I saw her cry.
I just didn't understand.
Then comes “Time.”
She waited for me for almost five years.
She knew what I was trying to resolve. She knew I wanted a different future. She knew I loved her.
And she waited.
I kept saying:
“Soon, my love.”
I believed those promises when I made them.
But “soon” kept becoming another tomorrow.
I promised her a castle in the sky. I imagined a life where nothing could divide us. I told her that in this life and the next, in every world, I would still find her.
But eventually I had to understand the difference between a promise and a future.
A promise says:
“One day.”
A future says:
“Here.”
She needed somewhere real to stay.
Eventually, she looked at me and said:
“I love you, love, but I can't wait forever.”
Then the tears came.
I held her tighter because I didn't know what else to do.
When she finally said goodbye, part of me wanted to blame her.
But she hadn't stopped loving me.
She simply stopped waiting.
She had given me almost five years of every tomorrow she could spare.
I kept asking for one more.
Eventually, there wasn't one left.
And now we arrive at “Freedom.”
I saw her engagement post.
A ring on her hand.
A promise waiting for a date.
She was standing beside someone she already knew, someone who would now share the future I once imagined for us.
For a moment, I wished it was me.
I won't pretend otherwise.
I noticed her smile.
It was different from the smile I remembered.
Maybe she's happy.
Maybe she's content.
I don't really know anymore.
And that's part of letting go.
I used to know every look in her eyes.
Now I only know the memories I carry.
I still dream about her.
I still remember our Dreamland, that little place where time stood still and nothing came too late. The place where I could build our castle sky and she would always wait.
But I no longer need that dream to become reality.
I don't call it mindless dreaming.
I call it remembering.
Some dreams don't need to come true to have been real.
And that became the final realization of this EP.
I can still love her without asking her to return.
I can still remember her without asking her to wait.
I can wish her happiness without pretending I don't wish I could have been the one beside her.
I can finally give her the freedom she once gave me.
She gave me the freedom to be myself.
She gave me love.
She gave me time.
And eventually, I had to give her freedom.
That is the journey of JUST BE ME.
01. Just Be Me
She made me feel like I could finally be myself.
02. You Loved Me
She loved me despite my imperfections and despite the ways I struggled to love her fully.
03. I Saw You Cry
I saw the tears she tried to hide, but I didn't understand what they were telling me.
04. Time
She gave me almost five years until she finally couldn't wait anymore.
05. Freedom
I finally accepted that loving her could mean letting her live the life I couldn't give her.
This isn't a story about blaming someone.
It's not a story about one person being right and the other being wrong.
It's about two people who loved each other while circumstances, timing, and choices kept getting in the way.
It's about the things we understand too late.
It's about promises that were sincere but couldn't become reality.
It's about the difference between loving someone and being able to give them the life they deserve.
And most of all, it's about acceptance.
Because sometimes the ending isn't:
“I stopped loving you.”
Sometimes it's:
“I never stopped loving you. I just stopped asking you to wait.”
JUST BE ME is a collection of memories, but it is also a record of realization.
The paperclip ring.
The tears.
The years.
The promises.
The castle sky.
The engagement ring.
The different smile.
The Dreamland.
All of them belong to the same story.
And perhaps the most honest thing I can say after all of it is this:
Thank you for loving me.
Thank you for waiting.
Thank you for letting me be me.
And now...
Go live your life.
I'll live mine.
Somewhere in that Dreamland we created, I'll see you again.
