It Is What It Is is the title track from my album It is what it is, written on July 12, 2023.

I wrote this song from a place of realizing that life does not always give us the answers, endings, or outcomes we hoped for. Sometimes people disappoint us. Sometimes love gets complicated. Sometimes two people can be completely different and still find something real between them.

But eventually, I had to ask myself a simpler question: what can I actually change?

The past? No.

Other people's choices? No.

The way someone feels? Not always.

What I can change is how I respond, what I learn, and whether I keep moving forward.

That became the heart of “It Is What It Is.”

The song is about accepting reality without giving up on love, hope, or yourself. It is not about pretending everything is perfect. It is about looking at the highs and lows honestly and saying, “This happened. I felt it. I learned from it. Now I keep going.”

I also wanted to capture something I have experienced in relationships: sometimes opposites really do attract. Two people can see the world differently, challenge each other, and still discover something meaningful together. The differences do not automatically make the connection wrong. Sometimes they are part of what makes it real.

The line “It is what it is” became more than a phrase for me. It became a way of accepting what I cannot control without surrendering the things I can control.

I can love honestly.

I can learn from disappointment.

I can accept what happened.

I can become stronger without becoming colder.

And I can keep moving.

This song became the foundation for the album It is what it is, a collection of songs exploring love, attraction, friendship, letting go, acceptance, memory, distance, and the moments when we finally understand that not everything is ours to control.
